About Vasant Panchami
Vasant Panchami welcomes spring and is dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, music and the arts.
How it is observed
Families wear yellow, offer yellow flowers and sweets, and place books, pens and instruments before Saraswati for blessing. It is a traditional day for children to begin learning to write (Vidyarambham).
About the time shown: The puja is performed in the first half of the day (purvahna) while Panchami tithi is current.
