About Ganesh Chaturthi
Ganesh Chaturthi celebrates the birth of Lord Ganesha, remover of obstacles and patron of new beginnings.
How it is observed
Families install a Ganesha murti at home or in the community, offer modak and durva grass, and worship him for one and a half to eleven days before immersion (visarjan). Avoiding the sight of the moon on this night is a common custom.
About the time shown: The Ganesha puja is traditionally performed at midday (madhyahna).
